Ringing Remembers

Posted on

This November on Sunday 11th November it is hoped that bells will ring out at 7:00 p.m. throughout the land to mark the 100th anniversary of the celebrations following the signing of the armistice earlier that day. We will of course be ringing prior to our Remembrance service which starts at 10:00 a.m. but as usual that will be more somber as we ring “half muffled” in respect for all those who have died through all wars. During the first world war 1,400 soldiers, who at home were bell ringers, perished and so there is an initiative to recruit 1,400 new ringers who will hopefully be trained in time for the celebratory ringing on 11th November. Eckington church is one of just a few national bell ringing training centres and we are preparing to train as many ringers as possible. If you are interested then please make contact either by completing the fields below or using our “Contact Us” link  and ask about how you can become involved.
