Coronation Weekend

Posted on
These are the Coronation Weekend arrangements at St Peter & St Paul’s church.
On Friday evening at 7:00 p.m., there will be a special prayer service for our King on the eve of his Coronation. This will be followed at 7:30 p.m. by the first of our bell ringing for the King until about 8:30 p.m. On Saturday of course we will all want to watch the day unfold in front of a screen somewhere, so there are no church events planned that day apart from some celebration ringing in the early evening starting probably about 5:00 p.m. This will last for about an hour. On Sunday the bells will ring as usual from about 9:00 a.m. prior to a special Coronation service open to all which starts at the later than usual time of 10:00 a.m. We will be joined by the Scouts who will, following the service and after refreshments, make their way for a parade to Renishaw Hall timed to arrive at 12 noon. From 11:30 until 12:30 the bells will ring again in celebration as the parade commences. At that time in the church grounds we will start our Celebration Coronation Picnic to which everyone is welcome. Please provide your own picnic and some seating or blanket. Drinks will be available in the church. There will be games and music. If the weather is poor we will move into the church. This will last for as long as people wish to remain together.
Monday 8th is volunteer day and we encourage everyone to carry out some volunteering tasks to help our community. Maybe pay a visit to an elderly neighbour or do a litter pick. At about 7:30 p.m. the bells will ring again for about an hour as the last volunteer effort in our Ring for the King initiative. Whether you are able to join us or not we wish you a very enjoyable weekend.
